ashley_shreds This album is incredible. It perfectly blends nostalgic vibes into modern rock. Favorite track: Escape From Space Jail.

vanillacat1 I don't normally buy albums on vinyl or CD unless it's something special. This album and this band absolutely qualify. An amazing find that gets lots of playtime at home and in the car. Hard to pick one favorite track, though. There are so many gems and not one song I'd think to skip over. Favorite track: Monolith.
Spider-Bob
Spider-Bob thumbnail
Spider-Bob I listen to AVOL almost every day. Villainest has one of the most fully formed sounds of any band. The lyrics are complex, well thought out, and paint the picture of a complete narrative. On the strength of this album, I sought out every other piece of audio they’ve created. I recommend sampling their entire catalog, especially "Fight on a Theme/Mixtape." Buy the album, its fit for framing. Also check out "Evil Party," it's on track 11 of the album "Chiptunes = WIN: Volume 4" by Chiptunes = WIN. Favorite track: Skeletons.
Jim Nomad

Jim Nomad Villainest may very well be the best lyricists in chip music, but you wouldn't be blamed for missing it with how easy it is to lose yourself in the excellent synth and guitar work. A Vision of Light is a superbly-crafted album! Favorite track: Cliffhanger.
Not RomanPort

Not RomanPort Radical album all the way through. Also there's a cat on the cover, what else do you need? When I ordered the vinyl the band included a nice letter and even drew a picture of Sonic on it. 10/10 experience.
Carlene O

Carlene O A great album with the perfect mixture of 16 bit genesis style music and rock. Villainest knows how to please the ears and the imagination! Favorite track: Escape From Space Jail.

Monolith 03:38
You're not gonna like it If you like keeping score But none of us can run from it no more Throw aside your mission The world is getting small None of us can run from it no more You're not gonna like it But it's never been your call Time makes fools and martyrs of you all Banish all ambition! March yourself to war! Time makes fools and martyrs of you all You can change your ways and blame yourself You could stand your ground and run like hell You could change your ways and blame yourself You could make amends, but it won't help Now the gate you fear has opened Don't look at me like that Don't look at me like that The shape appears The shape you hoped that... Don't look at me like that Don't look at me like that Look to the future And all that's at stake Look to your past It's all been a fake-out Don't look at me like that Don't look at me like that Farther to safety and harder to fake Look to the future - It's all taking shape now!

Tell me My lines are distinguished, like I'm in control Tell me The sadness I carry is the same that you hold Tell me We got this, we're heroes, we'll never grow old Why can't You make me feel better at the cost of your soul? And all I wanted from you Was to be friends Slow motion gunfights Partners to the end, now Each broken window bears the miracle of flight The more that I describe it to you, baby The less that I can focus on the fight Tell me Your lines are corrupt, set in deep by the cold Tell me The sadness I carry's something I have to own Tell me We had this, we lost it, and now we're too old I tried To make you feel better and it cost me my soul And all I wanted from you Was to be friends Slow motion gunfights Partners to the end, now Each broken window bears the miracle of flight The more that I describe it to you, baby The less that I can focus on the fight And the tequila that my name was predicated Has made me oversensitive to light Though the time that we spent doesn't have to be over There's a limit to the weight I can keep on my shoulders The best on the force and the worst takin' orders Let's pick up what we can, make a break for the border. And all I wanted from you Was to be friends Slow motion gunfights Partners to the end, now Each broken window bears the miracle of flight The more that I describe it to you, baby... I'll take you to service Only if they're doing work Benches reupholstered Explosives in the church spire Doves surround us as we storm into the night We barely have the time to shield a baby As we dive out through the window towards the light We abseil through the fire with reckless fury Take on fear to stand for what was right

Rapture 03:45
I never thought the world would end I thought our love could last I'm sorry all the things I promised Never came to pass A force of nature so complex We'll never understand But the rapture's gonna be a party if you take my hand I shoulda been noticed! And got me some recognition For talent I can only assume I have I gotta control this Sign terms and align conditions Perfection in my victory laugh Now I'm ready to own it Make short work of the competition The world has got to learn to pay up I never wanna have known it The luxury only given To those who have the time to wake up Don't call me naive, it's not polite to make assumptions like these I just want to live my life in peace while friends surround me Apocalypse noted! My head can't relax, stay buried When everything around it's on fire I know I've been quoted I told you that I'd be ready That the end is something I have desired But now that I'm shown it The fault in what I believed in I don't wanna face it alone The future encoded Locked tight in the highest building One day we will claim as our home One day we can lead a Fast & Furious style family And we'll drive into the sunset with our fortune in the backseat, baby
4.
Skeletons 03:45
I see what you have become I can't afford to be young Take me back to my old life I can tell my former self to stop Running round in a cycle Chasing things that I don't even want Dawn of the dead What have you done? You were the savior You were the sun I'll see you through to the light Join me and live through the night I believe in a future Everyone can get what they deserve I believe in a future Fight for the survival of the Earth Dawn of the dead! What have you done? You were the savior You were the sun You gave us what we wanted Something we can live through Everything we wanted And now we can't resist you Dawn of the dead! What can we do? Take to the ocean There's nothing left to lose They want you to be silent Payment for your safety No man is an island They're gonna have to make me

Stalker 05:15
He's tall with a chiseled jaw He's got a charming crooked smile and a twinkling eye She's got all the boys in knots She's got that certain little somethin' you just can't deny They pass me by as I'm stocking the shelves They ask politely 'bout my cat and my health Then I know That they'll go Out of my aisle around the bend If I could Then I would Be both their lover and their friend Ain't got no baby who can love me back or hold me tight It might sound crazy but I know that what I did was right The world hates perfection They'd never make it on their own And now I'll never be alone They walked right out the door Expecting nothing, giving nothing Like I don't need a thing I know to me they meant more I took a knife, I took her life I took her diamond ring The look on her face as I pulled the knife out Could only be described as a silent shout The night we Became three A memory I'll always save Now you'll find Them close by Their bodies in an unmarked grave Ain't got no baby who can love me back or hold me tight It might sound crazy but I know that what I did was right The world hates perfection They'd never make it on their own And now I'll never be alone Though they're gone They live on Their love is locked inside my head The ring on My finger Means that to me they're never dead. Ain't got no baby who can love me back or hold me tight It might sound crazy but I know that what I did was right The world hates perfection They'd never make it on their own And now I'll never be alone... Now I'll never be alone.

Cliffhanger 04:11
I was afraid of death and I don't get how you could pretend to be not You've no concern in betraying your family or whether or not you'll be caught Crime used to pay you so much Less so today We know who you are and we know what you came for We know what you want and we know what to aim for Now I am not as angry as I thought I'd be That you are the one You are the one And you are not as careful as you ought to be Keep dreamin' on Keep dreamin' on I can climb to formidable heights with no rope or a second of thought I can save or destroy you should you need assistance or need to be fought I've made mistakes I can't change I've shied away Shouldered the blame No more, no way Crime used to pay you so I know I had to leave you I know you had to lie I know that you feel guilty But you don't have to hide I see you on the mountain The future in your eyes I forgive you...

Prom Night 03:32
I'm the girl in the corner Wearing a false cloak of modesty Begging for compliments Pink tulle and rainbows, he drives us around town I am the prom queen, this is the best I've found Prisms and fireworks, he drives us around town This is forever, this is the best I'm the girl wearing rainboots Where there is sunshine So I'm begging your sympathy I'm the girl wearing rainboots Where there is sunshine So I'm feeling your sympathy Don't pretend I'm the girl that you want me to be I don't need the attention, I do it for me I've been feelin' so lonely since you hit the scene I don't need the attention, I do it for me (Never one to be violent But when I protect her so I swear that she's into me Never been in a fight before She holds my hand I know that it's meant to be)
8.
When you asked me what I wanted Never suspected I could be so certain Don't ever ask me to explain it Some mysteries better left behind the curtain (Fate can't stop me now) We've got the power, we can make it So don't you ever (Turn this car around) A little muscle and a new direction (Fate can't stop me now) Their time is over, we can take it So don't you ever (Turn this car around) I see the future and our true reflection Mother - you showed me how... Father! Don't let me down. You know your mind and I respect it I could never I'll take you anywhere your heart desires We'll find evil and correct it Be together Protect the world against the creeps and liars. Mother - you showed me how... Father! Don't let me down.
9.
You lack the weapons You lack the nerve You lack the courage to escape Space Jail You're such a rebel Man of the world Ignoring every virtue of the beaten trail You want it? You got it!! We'll take away your freedom if you're not for sale You want it? You got it!! Do you still see the faces of the friends you failed? We are a sovereign nation So come do your worst You think you can take us over But not if we find you first We are perfection We are your god Detain you for eternity for no good reason You anti-heroes All look the part Sure to be a shoo-in at awards show season You want it? You got it!! Did Cube update you that the ghosts of Mars were real? You want it? You got it!! Sit back and let the future tell you how to feel We are a sovereign nation So come do your worst You have no jurisdiction So save it for Earth The chances for peace you wasted The voices inside your head You'd be the perfect soldier But you had to act like the hero instead.
10.
You fell apart in the city Had to escape from it all Just admit it Just admit it You fell into a spiral and now live within it But you're not looking for pity You're always lookin' for more Don't sweat it Don't forget it If you can breathe fire, you set your own limits You're a survivor And I'm not surprised You could eat us alive and we'd be grateful And when the city's laid to waste you'll find your calling And you can always find the best time to stop talking And I wish you nothing but the very best in all things Nothing that a few years of therapy And the structure of family can't heal And you can be alone again I wanna share with you something I had a vision of light Don't you fight it Don't try to hide it Victory's upon you, the fates have decided If I don't wake in the morning And vanish into the night They don't see it But I still believe it You have been the hero we all truly needed You've got the hunger To tear us asunder And eat our reserve of nuclear weapons - whoa! And when the city's laid to waste you'll find your calling And you can always find the best time to stop talking And I wish you nothing but the very best in all things Nothing that a few years of therapy And the structure of family can't heal And you can be alone All of the people around you are fixin' to fight But I want to help you get home again. I can't miss you As your silhouette burns bright behind the skyline It might be the last time I can say I - I'll miss you And I regret the times that I was quick to anger Just 'cause I don't understand you, but Now I - I see you And if we still maintain our threats to your ascension We haven't paid attention on the way I - I need you And as the city wakes to catch your new horizon And all the sins we tried to hide away I could find you If I decide All that hides you Are blinding lights I catch you through the embers You can take your time and I won't blame you The ocean rose to take your heart away I might not be remembered But I was there and I could not forget you The night will still remain a part of me I thought I saw the future But every time I thought I had the answers I focused on the shapes that lie to me I - I can't stand to lose you So if your thoughts start holding you to ransom Take my hand and don't lose sight of me I could find you If I decide All that hides you Are blinding lights I could find you If I decide All that hides you Are blinding lights
